Disaster Management with MissionMode

Using the basic criteria defined in the section above as to what makes a great business continuity dashboard and command and control center, there is one particular software solutions vendor that continues to impress me: They are MissionMode Solutions of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Their flagship BC product, MissionMode Alert and Situation Center, is an intuitive dashboard-based business continuity command center that can manage business continuity, crisis management, emergency and disaster response from both proactive and reactive perspectives. It is a well-rounded communication and notification solution that unites an organization’s BC policies, people, planning, and other corporate resources into a consolidated framework for disaster risk mitigation and disaster response.

On the reactive side of things, the MissionMode dashboard can serve as a holistic crisis communication platform and a secure virtual emergency operations center (referred to as VEOC). From this command center, users can assign, update, and monitor tasks in a truly collaborative, real time, and secure manner throughout the full lifecycle of a crisis. The heart of MissionMode’s command center and war room functionality is its Situation Centerwhich can be accessed over the internet from any standard web browser, PDA, SMS, or other handheld devices like Blackberry and Treo. The MissionMode Situation Center Interface provides robust functional modules to manage disasters, the most important of these include:

  • The Situation Center – The dashboard that provides the window into the disaster

  • Resource Library - Provides links to BC plans, policy, procedures, and templates

  • Situation Log – Allows users to manage information about a crisis situation or disaster location as updates happen (no image)
