A recent IDC study reports that software and software-as-a-service (SaaS) vendors that partner with SAP for business intelligence (BI) and analytics functionality achieve an average of 235 percent return on investment (ROI) versus developing the functionality on their own. The study, commissioned by SAP, interviewed 64 SAP business intelligence partners that also reported the benefits of a mean payback period of 6.3 months and the ability to focus their developers on creating innovation and value. Demand for incorporating BI and analytics in software products stems from a growing body of evidence showing a link between investment in BI and analytics solutions and competitiveness, according to IDC.
