Survey Finds Canadian Companies Lack a Strategy for Mobilizing Business Applications to Drive Competitive Advantage

Tuesday, May 05, 2009

Canadian organizations, both public and private, are misleading themselves into believing they have a mobile strategy, when in fact, they are just beginning to move beyond basic wireless enablement, reveals a new survey by IDC Canada.

The survey, sponsored by SAP Canada Inc., polled 255 senior IT and business decision-makers in organizations with at least $50 million in revenue to analyze the readiness of Canadian organizations to incorporate mobility into their enterprise application strategy. The findings, compiled in a white paper entitled "Mobilizing Canada: Moving Beyond Wireless Enablement," reveal that while an increasing percentage of the Canadian workforce is being asked to work in multiple locations outside the office – with varying degrees of access to corporate data and processes – only a few companies have moved beyond simply providing their workforce with mobile devices for e-mail and Internet access.
