This article aims to provide more insight on the trend of data virtualization (DV) and the importance of data federation (DF) to support that trend. Stephen Swoyer of TDWI explains the concepts of DV; although quite technical, it gives a sense of the challenges DV technologies have overcome and what challenges lie ahead.
